About ADLA

Araiys Design, L.A., P.C. (ADLA) is a licensed landscape architecture firm located in Southampton, NY. Since 1994, we have provided landscape architecture services for residential, municipal, and commercial clients within the sensitive ecology and colorful design vernacular of the East End of Long Island.

 

Long Island and its surrounding regions offer a diverse palette of landscape typologies composed of urban, rural, agricultural, waterfront, and wild places. Our deep knowledge and appreciation of these native landscapes are fundamental to our approach, guiding our design decisions and material selections. From initial conceptualization to final implementation, we prioritize close collaboration with our clients, the design team, and builders to ensure that our shared vision is brought to life with precision and care.     Steven G. Nieroda, RLA, ASLA

    Steve Nieroda is a registered Landscape Architect whose career spans over two decades, featuring a diverse portfolio of complex commercial and high-end residential developments. He earned a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oklahoma, where he received ASLA honors for his thesis on the remediation of an Oklahoma City Superfund Site.

     

    Since returning to his native Long Island in 2005, Steve has significantly contributed to sustainable community projects by adopting Low Impact Design strategies, positively impacting Long Island and NYC. Joining our studio in 2013, he has become a pivotal figure, enriching our practice with his extensive expertise. Under his guidance, the studio has completed numerous landmark projects, including the award-winning revitalization of The Canoe Place Inn and Townhouses.

     

    Steve's design philosophy is integrative, focusing on sustainable solutions that surpass client expectations. Outside of work, his passion for the great outdoors and family time deeply influences his professional approach, driving him to create spaces that foster a connection with nature.

    Timothy A. Rumph, RLA, ASLA

    Tim Rumph, founder of Araiys Design, is celebrated for his creative design ethos and an extensive understanding of regulatory, environmental, and zoning intricacies, rooted deeply within the local community. With an impressive career spanning over four decades, Tim has skillfully navigated projects through the complexities of state, county, and local governmental approval processes, and served as a consultant to many municipalities.

     

    A Rutgers University graduate, Tim has consistently expanded his expertise through ongoing industry education. Although he retired in 2023, he continues to contribute to our studio as a consultant, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. His enduring influence motivates our team to pursue inventive and sustainable landscape design.

    Daria Szalinska

    Daria Szalinska, originally from Poland, earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Landscape Architecture at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, graduating with honors in 2011. Her academic journey continued with studies in Environmental Psychology at Warsaw University, deepening her insights into the intricate relationship between humans and their environments, a perspective that greatly informs her approach to landscape design.

     

    With over a decade of professional experience, Daria's journey began at a premier European tree nursery, where she gained a deep understanding of tree science and the nursery industry, bringing a unique European perspective to our team. In 2014, Daria embarked on a transformative journey to the United States, undertaking an internship with a leading landscape company. This hands-on experience proved invaluable, sharpening her practical skills and broadening her horizons within the field. 

     

    Since joining Araiys Design in 2017, Daria has been instrumental in high-end residential projects on the East End, including collaboration with Piet Oudolf and the acclaimed Cobb Isle Residence. 

     

    Daria's exemplary contributions to landscape architecture were recognized with the prestigious ICAA's Third Annual Bunny Mellon Garden Design Prize, underscoring her emerging talent in the field.

     

    Residing in Sag Harbor with her family, Daria continually seeks global inspiration, driving her creative vision forward.

    Amanda Jones Schiraldi, RLA, ASLA

    Amanda Jones Schiraldi, a Long Island native, earned her Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from Pennsylvania State University. Her studies included a significant stint in Barcelona, Spain, at the Barcelona Architecture Center, delving into architectural and landscape intricacies. Post-graduation in 2015, Amanda joined leading landscape firms in Long Island, including in the Hamptons and Nassau County. With her background in construction management, Amanda has successfully led numerous complex commercial projects, merging her expertise in landscape architecture and construction. 

     

    As a registered Landscape Architect in New York, she brings invaluable knowledge and experience to our team, exemplifying dedication to excellence. Amanda's Long Island roots underpin her passion for crafting lasting landscapes. 

     

    In 2023, she brought this rich expertise to our office, marking a new chapter in her professional journey filled with growth, learning, and commitment.

    Gabriella Verderber, ASLA

    Gabriella Verderber, a Long Island native, boasts a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Rhode Island, obtained in 2017, and an Associate’s Degree in Horticulture from Farmingdale State College. Gabriella's passion for horticulture extends beyond her formal education, as she has amassed years of hands-on experience working at garden centers and plant nurseries across Long Island.

     

    Joining Araiys Design in 2020, Gabriella's extensive plant knowledge has significantly enriched her role within the company. Involved in numerous planting design projects, she adeptly combines her expertise to foster vibrant and eco-conscious landscapes. Her strong industry connections keep her at the forefront of the latest developments and trends, which she skillfully incorporates into her designs.

     

    Gabriella's career, spanning various firms across Long Island before 2020, includes a wide array of design work such as sports fields, community developments, arboretums, and residential projects. Her deep botanical insight makes her an invaluable asset to our team, consistently delivering outstanding results driven by her unwavering commitment to crafting enchanting outdoor environments.

    Anir Dighe

    Anir Dighe, a native of India, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Pune University. Driven by his passion for blending the built environment with natural landscapes, he completed a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture at the Boston Architectural College in 2019. There, his exceptional work earned him an American Society of Landscape Architects Merit Award and an Excellence in Thesis Award. 

     

    In 2022, Anir brought his rich heritage and professional expertise to Araiys Design, becoming an instrumental part of our team. His infusion of Indian cultural insights into his work offers a unique blend of architectural and landscape architectural perspectives, enriching our projects. Anir's distinct approach not only enhances our diverse team but also contributes to our collaborative efforts, embodying the synergy between Long Island's native charm and international flair.

     

    Anir's commitment to staying at the forefront of design innovation is unwavering. He draws inspiration from a myriad of experiences, whether attending premiere Hamptons events or enjoying the spirited competition of polo games. Residing in Sag Harbor, Anir's dedication and unique vision are evident in every project he undertakes, exemplifying his relentless pursuit of excellence in design.

    George Flanagan, a Southampton native deeply ingrained in the local community, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Cultural and Historic Preservation from Salve Regina University in 2019. During his tenure at school, he immersed himself in the study of various design elements in Newport. There, he contributed to the research and preservation of historic landscape designs of iconic mansion homes, employing historical records, photos, and advanced radar techniques. 

     

    George's upbringing in Water Mill, coupled with his experience working with a local real estate legal firm, has endowed him with a profound understanding and appreciation for the diverse architectural elements and landscapes that bind them.

     

    Continuously expanding his skill set, George plays a pivotal role in enhancing our office's graphic communication through his adeptness in 3D rendering. His contributions prove invaluable for both internal reviews and client presentations. 

     

    Outside of work, you might catch George cruising around in vintage classics; that VW parked outside? It's his.

    Lina Falt, hailing from Sweden, brought her administrative expertise to the Araiys Design team in 2015 after a decade-long career in the health field. As the manager of our administrative and financial sectors, Lina plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the firm. She excels in facilitating communication between our architects and clients, ensuring seamless collaboration and exceptional service delivery. Lina's European background adds diversity to our office culture and perspectives, enriching our team dynamic.

     

    Outside of work, Lina and her family are deeply integrated into the local community. Her commitment to both professional excellence and community involvement underscores her dedication to fostering positive relationships and achieving collective success.
