This 6.5-acre property sits on a perch overlooking Long Pond in Bridgehampton. As year-round residents, our clients prioritized maintaining open views of the pond. Our solution was to contour the property, creating stepped terraces in harmony with the natural slope of the land.
Central to our design strategy was the placement of the pool on a terrace approximately 9 feet below the main floor level of the house. This positioning ensures unobstructed pond views from the house while providing a secluded and inviting area for poolside leisure. The pool terrace features a negative-edge pool, complemented by a hot tub, pool house, and plantings that offer a sequence of blooms throughout the season. The pool’s gentle curvature extends site lines outward toward the pond, creating a visual water to water link.
Native plantings between the pool and pond provide a visually appealing buffer that protects the slope from erosion and provides wildlife habitat. This harmonious integration of architecture and landscape ensures a serene and inviting atmosphere that celebrates the inherent beauty of the surrounding site context.
